Sleepless   von Bluszcz

                                  Kapitel 1: 
                                  -----------


Fluttershy's hands clung to the edge of her bed. She still was deeply
embarrassed and she felt her sweating hands wetting the sheets. The blood rushed
to her face as she recalled the last hours. It was enough to leave her
sleepless.

It has been already past midnight as she woke up from the knocking at the door.
The sudden interrupt made her even more tired, so tired she forgot to feel her
constant insecurities.
As she opened the door, a even more tired Rainbow Dash fell through the door
into her arms.
"Rainbow Dash", whispered Fluttershy in surprise, her eyes wide open. "What are
you doing here at such an hour? I was already sleeping, very deeply so."
But "Fluttershy" was the only thing Rainbow Dash mumbled as a response. The
rose-maned Pegasus dragged her friend onto the sofa without any protest which
increased her worries. "Hey, are you all right?", she asked when Rainbow Dash
took a sitting position. She just glanced at her friend, eyes pressed together
in a forced expression. "You know Fluttershy", she finally said, her voice
trembling with a thin layer of angst. "I haven't slept very well lately, and
this is your fault. For quite a while now.  I'm not supposed to feel so
befuddled when I'm with you."
"W-With me? Is that the reason you were avoiding me lately?" Fluttershy's voice
had an almost shrill tone. What was Rainbow Dash up to?
"I'm afraid so.", replied Rainbow Dash, drunk from sleep deprivation.
"Fluttershy" Her right hand grabbed her friend's arm. "I'm sorry I'm always so
brusque to you."
Fluttershy blushed for Rainbow Dash has never apologized for her behaviour
towards her before.
"N-No, it's fine, r-really." Now she was the one mumbling while glancing fuddled
at her friend's hand.
"Actually it's not." Rainbow Dash raised her voice. "I should know better not to
treat you like this." She grabbed Fluttershy's arm even stronger and moved her
body closer to hers.
"R-Rainbow Dash, w-what are you t-trying...?" The rainbow-maned Pegasus folded
her arms around her friend, careful enough not to squeeze her wings too tightly.
Fluttershy felt a nice warmth flooding her body, her chest. She remembered their
mutual time in Cloudsdale with a smile, especially the time at the summer flight
camp where Rainbow Dash has protected her from some bullies. What was this fuzzy
feeling?
"You smell good", remarked Rainbow Dash after a while. Her friend's face turned
deeply red. She didn't know how to respond to this and backed off.
"Fluttershy." Her voice did sound tormented. "I think I may have a crush on
you."
The yellow Pegasus stared into sad, weary eyes; petrified herself. She breathed
in deeply then, asking her friend in a shaky voice if it was possible to have
had mistaken love with friendship.
"I doubt it.", said Rainbow Dash. Her friend's words hurt her. It was unlikely
to hear cruel things from her. She has always been so kind to her friends. Even
with her wording. "It's too confusing and too painful. You see?" Their bodies
were close again, but Fluttershy didn't evade. Apple-scented breath played into
her face. She closed her eyes. Rainbow Dash's lips pressed briefly against hers
before they wandered to her ears to form a nearly non-audible "I'm sorry.".
Fluttershy felt a wet spot on her cheek. Was it possible? Not a single tear was
shed in front of the group, not even in front of her now that their friendship
has quite improved in the last few months. She didn't dare to open her eyes,
afraid of what was happening right now. Afraid to face this yet unknown part of
her friend.
Everything went fast now. Sounds of rushed footsteps mixed with a closing door
along with some others filled the room.
Fluttershy finally opened her eyes, but it was too late. Rainbow Dash was
already gone.


She glared at the window where the first sun rays started to peek through. A
loud sigh escaped her lips. Her head ached from all the thinking over what has
happened this night. Besides, she felt how her body couldn't take it anymore
from staying awake so long and sitting all the time. Fluttershy decided to catch
up the lost hours of sleep. She went to bed, but before she finally fell asleep,
she set up the plan to pay Rainbow Dash a visit later and to face her own
feelings. The memory of their kiss flashed her mind for the last time. In the
end, a genuine smile graced her face.
